Greece, which was named in homage towards the Greeks independence from the Turks, was originally called Northampton. It was initially a tansportation hub due to access to Lake Ontario, Genesee River, Ridge Road and the Erie Canal as well as a rich land for agriculture, quickly changed with the introduction of Eastman Kodak Company.

According to the Morgan Quinto Awards, Greece was rated the ninth overall safest city in America and the sixth safest city with a population of 75,000-99,000. With three school districts including Greece, Hilton, and Spencerport, this town is rich with culture and diversity. Its town motto is “Discover the Promise,” which the town keeps to with its large number of parks, museums, and the Gary Beikirch Veteran’s Memorial, a living memorial with over 4,700 names.

Orginally settled by the Algonquns and Iroquois, these people believed this would be a prosperous land to raise their family, a notion that is still strong within the residents of today.
