Fairport, considered as the, “Crown Jewel of the Erie Canal,” is located in the town of Perinton. In 2005 Money Magazine called Fairport #62 in their list of “Best Places to Live.” Fairport was also included in Relocate America’s “Top 100 Places to Live” in 2008. It was originally settled in the two flat areas of Perinton Center (Turk Hill and Ayrault Road) and Egypt as an industry and transportation center.

Fairport has brought not only arts and music to their community, but has also made the Erie Canal one of their best attractions through the Colonial Belle, which offers boat tours, and canal cruises from Packett’s Wharf. Between 1977 and the late 1980’s, Fairport Village Landing and Packett’s Landing opened offering major shopping, dining, and gathering spots. This is a flourishing area for their annual Canal Days which consists of the PErinton Concert Band and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, artists and artisans from more than a dozen states as well as Cnanada. A number of other activities and festivals are keeping this town busy such as the Fairport Music and Food Fest, live performances of Center Stage at the Center Park amphitheater, and the Fairport Crew Club opened to residents. Fairport is also the home to the Constellation Brands, the largest wine company in the world.

Such names as Steve Soja, Dave Cerny, Philip Seyomour Hoffman, and Louise Slaughter have too made this lovely and lively town their home as well as almost 6,000 other people.
